alternative winter activities

Try something new during your next winter holiday

Skiing and snowboarding might be great fun, but they are just two of many winter activities on offer in the region around Lake Achensee.

Ski touring, ice skating, romantic horse-drawn carriage rides and winter hikes are among the alternatives available for those who fancy trying something new during their next winter holiday.

Or how about a snow-kiting session on the frozen lake?

tobogganing

Fun for all the family at Lake Achensee

There are no fewer than five toboggan runs in the area around Lake Achensee, making it a haven for all those who enjoy walking up to a hut, warming up with a hot mulled wine and then whizzing back down into the valley. The runs in Achenkirch, Maurach, Pertisau, Steinberg and Wiesing are all between 1 and 3 kilometres in length and have a cosy hut at the top.

Those who decide to go tobogganing at the last minute can try the 1.5km floodlit Naturrodelbahn Pertisau right next to the hotel, which is open until 23:00. You can either walk up or take the express shuttle that runs hourly and can transport a maximum of 25 people up to the hut at 1,120 metres above sea level.
