- Panorama - bonus on 22,6km
- Medium difficulty
Get into your sports clothes, lace up your shoes, put on your headphones and listen to your favorite running music, and off you go to discover the trails of Pertisau. The motivation for such a sports unit on vacation is easy to find - thanks to the overwhelming scenic beauty around Lake Achensee. Anyone who has ever walked on the trails high above the lake, nestled between the Rofan and Karwendel mountains, knows about this special feature. And best of all: with the Seehotel Einwaller you are as close to the trails as somehow possible!
The shoreline of Lake Achensee is more than 20 kilometers long, so the circular route, although it always runs directly along the Lakeshore, is quite long at approximately 22 kilometers. A hike around Lake Achensee takes about 6.5 hours. The best runners complete the challenging cross-country route in the Achensee Run in one hour and 15 minutes.
Along the shores of Lake Achensee, there are several beautiful walking paths. Pertisau offers a lovely lakeside promenade that stretches along the western shore. Here, you can leisurely stroll along the lake, enjoying the views of Lake Achensee and the surrounding mountains. In Maurach, there is also a picturesque walking path along the western shore. Located at the northern end of Achensee, Achenkirch also provides lovely walking opportunities along the lakeshore, perfect for enjoying nature and fresh air in a peaceful environment. For a longer walk, the Gaisalm is recommended. The path winds through forests and along the lake, offering stunning natural scenery and a cozy place to stop for refreshments.
The picturesque impressions in the pristine natural landscape are the most frequent answer of many trail runners to the question why they are drawn to the Achensee region with their profile soles. Athletically ambitious trail runners will find their high-end trails here, enjoyable casual runners picturesque entry variants.
From Pertisau to the Gernalm leads a very easily manageable tour, which is scenically in no way inferior to the more difficult alpine routes. Karwendel nature park scenery guaranteed! From the hotel at Achensee you walk to the starting point, the beginning of the toll road on the outskirts of Pertisau. On the way into the Gerntal valley you reach the Pletzachalm halfway - take a breather! - and continue on lush green meadows into the opening valley, including a streambed crossing. After about 6 km and 200 hm you can already see the Gernalm, whereby you complete the last meters on the toll road. At this point, the beauty of the Karwendel is astonishing. Who still has power in the calves, runs steeply up to the summit cross at the Plumsjoch.
When several exciting trail competitions take place in one region, it's a telltale sign that it's just pretty awesome to run there. In the case of the vacation region of Pertisau on Lake Achensee, the evidence of recent years is called Karwendelmarsch, OMM - Original Mountain Marathon, and Achenseelauf.
As an event, the Karwendelmarsch is the pride and joy of the Tyrolean mountain summer. It is considered a showcase example of how sport, tourism and a protected area - the Karwendel Nature Park - can work together and end up with a mega event with high appeal for participants and visitors. If you are a vacation guest and would like to visit the event with your family, you can find all the info about the Karwendelmarsch here.
