Sailing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing on Lake Achensee

If you visit Lake Achensee on a warm summer's day you will see numerous kite-surfers and wind-surfers zipping along the surface of the water. The lake has some of the best wind conditions in Austria and over the decades has grown into a haven for water sports enthusiasts in Austria, Germany and other neighbouring countries. Stand-up paddle, kite-surfing, sailing and rafting are just some of the activities on offer.

The number one address for beginners keen to try out one of these sports for the first time is the Pertisau Sailing School. Located at the dock in Pertisau where the sightseeing boats stop to let passengers embark and disembark, it is just a short walk from the Seehotel Einwaller.

activities for everyone

Lake Achensee is one big water park

It is no surprise that the region around Lake Achensee is known throughout Austria and beyond as a mecca for water sports. As well as sailing and surfing there is also the chance to try diving, rafting and open-water swimming in the lake, which is up to 133 metres deep in places.

Swimming, windsurfing and sailing are  hard work - and when the adrenaline subsides you can often start to feel cold. What better place, then, to warm up than in our cosy café?
